The Ector County ISD Board of Trustees held its regular meeting for March on the evening of the 28th, a recap of the agenda is below. The meeting was held at George H.W. Bush New Tech Odessa to accommodate the large number of students being recognized. Nelson Minyard was absent.
Pease Elementary students Elyjah Conwright & Krystal Juarez led the pledges of allegiance.
Reverend Clydel Chapman from Northside Baptist Church gave the invocation.
The special presentations included the announcement that Wilson & Young Medal of Honor Middle School won the TSPRA Video Contest and the video was shown; the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Diploma candidates from Odessa High School; and the recognition of State contest qualifiers in TAME (Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering), VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event), Guitar, Mariachi, and Powerlifting.
A. Trustees voted 6-0 to approve the cancellation of the May 6 Single Member District Elections for Position 4 and Position 5, and to Certify the Unopposed Candidate as “elected.” The Trustees in those positions, Doyle Woodall and Dr. Steve Brown are running unopposed so the formal election has been canceled and the two men are declared the winners. The other two Trustees spots – Position 2 and Position 7 – are contested.
B. There were no purchases over $50,000 to approve.
C. Trustees voted 6-0 to approve the Consent Agenda. The Consent Agenda is a group of previously discussed or routine items presented for approval together. Included in this month’s consent agenda were campus turnaround plans, a scholarship agreement with the Permian Basin Workforce Development Board, and the annual interlocal agreement with Region 18 Education Service Center for iTCCS (student data) service.
D. There was no closed session.
