The 2+1 Program is a fast-track, one-year teacher preparation program, combining intense clinical experiences with applicable online courses. It is a partnership between Odessa College, Texas Tech and Ector County ISD. Candidates that wish to participate need to earn an Associate Degree in Teaching from Odessa College which takes 2 years to obtain. Then, students enroll in the 2+1 TechTeach Across Texas program to complete a Bachelor of Science degree and earn teacher certification in 1 calendar year without leaving home. Although the courses are delivered online, you are required to (physically) be in the Odessa area to work in designated clinical sites at Ector County ISD during the student teaching practicum. Teacher candidates will receive classroom coaching from a skilled, experienced Site Coordinator and Mentor Teachers, and be able to immediately apply principles from their practical coursework.
